Girls Rock@Reading (LitClub)

Newark G.A.L.S., Inc. believe that today’s readers are tomorrow’s leaders.  Hence, Girls Rock at Reading aims to encourage Reading through texts that we trust our girls will enjoy. Some of the books we examine are, The Skin I’m In, Bird, and Emako Blue.  All three books include a female protagonist, who explores important issues about self, friendship and community. Through the reading of these anchor texts, the group will discuss and share their personal experiences as well as exercise their reading comprehension “muscles” that we know are essential for academic achievement and career readiness. 

Life Skills Academy@ The Marion Bolden Student Center

The Life Skills Academy seeks to enhance the social and emotional well-being of each girl. Through monthly meetings, creative small group activities, projects, and presenters. The girls explore topics including but not limited to:

Knowledge for College is a branch of Newark Gals Inc. dedicated to ensuring success for our College Girls.
